My Art  making process

The artwork that inspires me for my own art-making draws on a couple of art movements including fauvism (1904-1910, pointillism (1886-1919) and neo-impressionism (1884-1906) as references for my collection of artworks.

I love the pure colour, technicalities of colour application to express shape and form with a collection of colours rather than one or two colour to describe something that is in the landscape I'm painting.

The artworks are created digitally, predominantly made on a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet or Surface Studio PC.
The duration of time to complete a new work is approximately 1 month.

Also known as “dye- sub” and “dye sublimation print”, sublimation printing is a flexible digital printing method that helps textile designers with creativity and production output. The sublimation printing process is carried out by transferring the sublimation dyes to a medium which is a specially designed inkjet printer.

After transferring the dye to the medium, it is then transferred to a heated object or fabric and pressurized through a commercial heat press.

Any garment or object with a polyester base or polyester coating can be designed with the help of sublimation printing. With pressure and heat, the dye on the medium sublimates and transforms into a gas which is then absorbed by the polyester to reflect the design/artwork

.

The finest quality of sublimation printing is that which does not fade or crack on the fabric. These prints are also very light and do not have any harsh texture. As the technique uses heat-sensitive inks, the print on garments looks bright even after many washes.

Direct to garment printing (DTG) is a process of digitally printing on textiles using specialized aqueous ink jet print technology.

DTG printers typically have a platen designed to hold the garment in a fixed position, and the printer inks are jetted or sprayed onto the textile by the print head. DTG typically requires that the garment be pre-treated in preparation for the fabric to be printed on.

Since this is a digital process the print is sharper and has a higher resolution, or DPI, than traditional printing methods such as screen printing. However, unlike screen printing, there is no long setup or clean-up process, and DTG has the ability to print just one single shirt for minimal cost.
